Black Sage Flowers.jpg

Thoughtful, intimate, and quietly philosophical.

There are moments that quietly alter the course of a life—not because they arrive with spectacle, but because they find us at last willing to pay attention.

In Black Sage Flowers, C. L. Brown gathers poems that linger where love meets grief, where memory gives way to grace, and where the ordinary world patiently reveals extraordinary truths. Trees become companions. Mountains become teachers. Silence becomes its own language. Even loss is invited to speak.

Thoughtful, intimate, and quietly philosophical, these poems are less concerned with answers than with the gentle work of noticing—of laying aside distraction long enough to behold what has always been waiting to be seen.

For those willing to linger, Black Sage Flowers offers not merely a collection of poems, but an invitation to see the world, and perhaps themselves, with quieter eyes.

MiddaySun
The Eyes That Swallowed the Midday Sun.jpg

Divided into three chapters: Rhapsodies of the Dawn, Songbirds and Midday Rains, and Setting Suns are Beautiful Too, The Eyes That Swallowed the Midday Sun is a celebration of unshackled love. A celebration of its failures, and its triumphs. It is a journey of holding on, of letting go, and of acceptance of what cannot be undone.

One day
the wind will come to you
and it will regard you
as though there is
nothing else in existence.
It will touch you
and that touch will take from you
things you weren’t ready to give up.

Then
just like that
it will go away.

It will go away with all that it came with
and as much of yourself that you’ll
surrender to a fleeting moment.
But do not hang your head
from shoulders that grieve.
And do not sit with discontent
as one who’s lost some prized possession.
For you see
the wind can only hold you captive
if it is free.

Nectar.jpg

Nectar is a thoughtful and transcendent journey through spiritual growth, self-discovery, and the healing ways of love. Divided into three chapters, Guide of Life, Chrysalis, and Ambrosia, this collection of poems celebrates Spirit in its many forms.

Perhaps God is,
as I AM,
a tormented soul
finding solace within itself.

It is a celebration of uncontaminated affection.

Permit me stay between your lips,
and I’ll prove to you
the soul has no need
for the waste of trees.

The reader will be taken on an unguided tour along three paths that so many of us find ourselves on at one time, or another; three seemingly separate journies, all leading to one place, love.

I must have lived a few lifetimes before this.
Because this love I carry for you,
it induces a sense of nostalgia for a time and a place
I’ve only seen bits and pieces of
immersed in your soft, unyielding, eyes.

And from listening to the way it speaks of you
with such clarity and wisdom,
I know it is very well acquainted with age.

So, hello, my everlasting!
I am dying to live you, again.
